Max Schacknow Founder and Director
Maxie has been drawing and painting ever since he completed his duty as a naval radio-operator at the conclusion of World War II. He enrolled in Cartoonists and Illustrators School in NYC in 1950. He trained there for two years. While art was always his hobby and his first love, he spent the next two decades building his textile brokerage business and raising his family. He resumed creating art in 1973. He has been going non-stop ever since that time. The SMOFA project has been his consuming passion after he moved to Florida in the mid-1990s. Maxie turned 87 years old in December, 2009. ===================================================================================== Olga Avallone Assistant Director and Curator Olga was born in Bogotá, Colombia. She has 2 years of college experience from LaGuardia College in Queens, NY. As Curator, Olga helps in the daily operation of the Museum, including choosing art objects for exhibition and setting up the shows. She started working with Max Schacknow in 1998.
